A University of Lethbridge art student is once again asking for the community’s help with a massive rock installation.
In the summer of 2017, Sarah Russell’s hillside art project near Fort Whoop Up was vandalized. She called on the community for help and was able to rebuild it within an hour.
Russell says she “can’t even explain the feeling those people gave me” adding “that day has always been in my heart.”
Much like her first installation, Russell says this new rock formation – representing the Blackfoot Confederacy Flag – is all about community and unity.
Russell says she can’t finish the project herself and since she’s working with the notion of reconciliation, she’s inviting interested individuals to participate and learn.
Installation of the 350 painted rocks will take place over the August long weekend.Anyone who is interested in helping out, can register with Russell before July 28th by emailing her at firstname.lastname@example.org
