Mounties are investigating two possible drownings this long weekend, one near Okotoks and another not far from Lake Louise.
On Sunday night (June 30), Okotoks RCMP were called to the High Wood River in Foothills County for a report of a missing swimmer.
A man in this early 20’s jumped into the water from a ledge, surfaced for a moment, then went underwater and failed to come back up again. Several people who were watching jumped into the river to try to assist without success.
Around the same time Sunday evening, RCMP in Lake Louise were called out to Lake Herbert, in Banff National Park for a report of a possible drowning there.
A young man, also in his early 20’s fell into the water while paddle boarding and did not resurface.
Both searches were suspended because of darkness and search and rescue crews were expected be back looking on Monday.
Police have not released the names of the two missing men in either case.
