Lethbridge property taxes are due by the end of the day this Friday, June 28th.

Property Tax Manager Kerry Boogaart says if you don’t have them paid by June 28th, you’ll be tagged with a late payment penalty of 7%.

That penalty would amount to $70 for every $1000 in outstanding taxes.

Cash, cheques and debit card payments are accepted by cashiers on the main floor at City Hall, 910-4 Avenue South from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm until Friday. To avoid potential line ups, tax payers are encouraged not to leave payments until the last minute.

Boogaart says if you do miss the deadline, and it doesn’t happen often, you’re asked to come into City Hall as soon as you can to get things sorted out.

She notes to avoid late payment penalties in the future people can sign up for the TIPP monthly instalment pre-payment plan which reduces you tax with 1.25% annual discount credit.
